I’ll start with Friday š
Indy wanted to go!
We loaded up (again, after getting permission to borrow my aunt’s car!) and set off. We made pretty good time, got in around 9:30, I think? Checked in, found everybody, then unloaded the car and hit the sack, because we were really tired after the drive!
Saturday morning we got up early, Chase put on Vader, I put on Hoth Leia, and we walked across the street to the convention center.
The SPHERE o’FEAR!
or… PLANET DEATH!
THE KILLING BALL!
DEATH MOON!
GIANT HURT BALL!
THE DEATHTICLE!
Anyway, we lined up to walk in for a special presentation – the mayor’s office was proclaiming it “Star Wars Day.” We lined up outside, then trooped down into the registration area where a platform was set up for the event.
Then we trooped upstairs and did the MidSouth Garrison group photos.
Then Tambo and Atin discovered Vader really IS an ATM:
I wore Hoth Leia, since it was sort of an ESB themed weekend, mostly because Irvin Kershner was there, as well as Billy Dee Williams and Jeremy Bulloch (and Anthony Daniels and David Prowse and Peter Mayhew) – and Chase finished my armpiece for me. I had wanted to get Mr Kershner’s autograph while wearing this, but I never did. Ah well.
I changed into Ewok Village Leia and then, it was time for the Corellian Base photos:
Mandalorian photoshoot time! I only got two shots of the group – a reporter for Knoxville’s Women’s magazine (or something like that?) was interviewing me. I hope I didn’t say anything stupid!
And then, it was time for the wedding!! š
They setup right underneath the Sunsphere:
So the ceremony starts, and Atin, who was performing the ceremony, asks if anyone objects to this marriage. From the back, someone yells “I do!” and another Boba Fett comes down the aisle, onto the stage, takes his helmet off, and it’s Jeremy Bulloch!
It was really, really wonderful. I’m so happy for them ! š
As for Ewok Village Leia, I want to fluff the wig a little more, and maybe find new sandals (these aren’t very comfortable!), but otherwise it was great!
This is a photo from LordBest, but I love it, had to post it:
After the wedding, I went and put on Wonder Woman and wore that for a little while. I didn’t get any pictures, though. We mostly shopped for a little while. Then Chase went and put regular clothes on, and I put on Slave Leia. We returned to the dealer’s room for a little while longer…
The Rebel Legion table, with Ash’s X-Wing Pilot costume on display:
Then it was time for the reception! Mr Bulloch came, as well as Peter Mayhew, and Doug Wangler, who is the model for Quinlon Voss in the comics.
After eating, I was cold, so we slipped out, and I put Ewok Village Leia back on, and came back.
A few more pics of Leia:
I got changed into regular clothes and we went up to the party room and hung out, and watched the local news’ coverage of the wedding!
Sunday morning we packed up, asked for a late check-out, and I put on Padme.
Like I said, it’s not finished – I plan on removing the sequins and collar and re-dying it to be darker. Then, more sequins! (I didn’t want to put too many on, just to have to take them back off)
In the dealer’s room, I mostly just tried to stay out of the way, and on the main, wider walkways. But, if the cloak got flipped over at all (which it did, a lot) dust clung to the velvet like nobody’s business. Once I realised that was happening, I decided to get out of it.
We loaded up, went back to the con for a few minutes, then headed home.
We managed to avoid the rain the whole way home, stopped in Nashville and got ice cream, and got home around 8 š
And I have to say, Adcon’s staff, and the staff at the Holiday Inn, were awesome, friendly and helpful. No nastiness or stuffiness anywhere. Wonderful š I’m hoping we can come back next year – I think if we’re able to, it would be our first con as a married couple!
LOL!
I always love your pictures. You’re great at capturing candid action shots.
Hehe that website you linked to is the same one that had a picture of my butt last year… I wonder if there will be any of the Catwoman!behind on it this year. š
Thanks! š Gah, I hate those people who come to cons to take photos like that. LOL I try to make one of my friends stand behind me most of the time to avoid it!
oooo! you’re ewok village leia is awesome! i don’t think i’ve ever seen that one before and it’s adorable!
Great post – very fun to read! Your Ewok village Leia is really lovely, one of the nicest I’ve seen. But your water gown – WOW! It’s just stunning! And you make such a pretty corpse. š
Ive always loved your Hoth leia, probably the best out there.
Its so cool Jeremy got into the Boba Fett for that wedding, he’s such a sweetheart!
im so glad im watching your journal lol
the funeral dress looks really good! wooooow. Even with the cape this color its amazing
ewoks~dress Leia’s hair is sweet! Is that one long braid or 2?
the water gown is beautiful, kell! i’m glad you had fun.
Niki
Your Ewok Leia turned out fantastically! I love the way the material drapes! How did you draft the skirt pieces?
The Water gown is simply stunning! Even unfinished it just looks incredible. Having experienced the distasters of costume trains in my Padme corset outfit, I can only imagine the nightmare of having a cape that long! But it sure does look good, and that’s what counts! You did a great job with the wig too! š I love the ‘dead’ shots š
That’s so awesome about JEremy Bullock š That kinda thing is just great! š
The pics are great!! I love Ewok Village Leia. It really looks comfortable too! Can’t wait to see the funeral dress again!
